June 2016

Good day CCA members……
Trust your summer is shaping up as we move ever deeper into the season. Here in Louisiana, the foliage thickens to lush and the green gets oh so greener. Wondrous to watch nature express itself in it’s cycle, Yin to Yang, and round again.

The June CCA Newsletter is dedicated to all things Symposium 2016. As we rapidly reach the 90 day point before our meeting it is time for all the details. Please find in the following everything Symposium 2016 related in descriptor, list, and link form that you might need in preparing to attend in September.
Mercer King, DC, DABCA

First, from Vice President, Kris Tohtz, a synopsis of 2016 CCA Symposium:

We are excited to announce our schedule line up for the 2016 CCA Annual Symposium September 24-25, 2016.  For both ease of transportation to our members as well as our co-sponsorships with the ILAAOM, this year we have moved out annual Symposium and testing for new potential DABCAs to the Chicago area.   Please make your reservations early as we have a limited block on rooms!

Testing for DABCA candidates, administered by the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncturists (ABCA), will be held at the DoubleTree hotel in Rosemont IL, Friday September 23, 2016 from 8am-4pm.  Registration for the examination can be made via the website

http://www.councilofchiropracticacupuncture.org/abca-app.html.

Registration and all documents to be considered for testing must be submitted and postmarked no later than Sunday July 31, 2016 by 6pm.  For any questions, please contact Jim Campbell, DC, President of the ABCA.

Any DABCA testing candidates may also register with the Council of Chiropractic Acupuncture (CCA) for a review for the examination

A prerecorded GoToMeeting review / study guide will be emailed to you upon registration; to follow that a live GoToMeeting call with Dr. Kris Tohtz, Vice President of the CCA, will take place from 7-9pm on Friday July 29, 2016.

Friday night, September 23, 2016 we will be hosting a dinner at the DoubleTree hotel for all actively enrolled CCA members. Cocktails will begin at 5:30 pm and dinner will be served at 7:00 pm.  Updates on all council matters will take place at dinner along with Q&A from the membership.

There will be 2 educational opportunities listed below as tracks on both Saturday and Sunday for the Symposium.

Lastly in our continuing effort to promote the sharing of research papers, for you review, from our President, Rand Olson who shares this link:
Subject: Acupuncture in Menopause (AIM) study, a pragmatic, randomized controlled trial.

http://mobile.journals.lww.com/menopausejournal/_layouts/15/oaks.journals.mobile/articleviewer.aspx?year=2016&issue=06000&article=00008#ath
A course of acupuncture treatments was associated with significant reduction in VMS, and several quality-of-life measures, compared with no acupuncture, and that clinical benefit persisted for at least 6 months beyond the end of treatment.

Final thoughts here, folks of note, last year we ran out of rooms quickly and had to try to obtain more in an adjacent hotel! So book early!

Also we have no control of license renewal credit approval processing time at a state level once application is made. If you need the CE hours please register early so as to avoid any issue.

In closing, we hope this will be a one stop source for all you might require. If you have any other questions, please to do not hesitate to call or e-mail. The CCA web site is also full of info. We hope to post this newsletter there also. Your board is here to serve and make this an event in which it is a joy to learn. Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Mercer King
